U16 Hurlers lose to Glenealy   08/11/2010

Carnew U16 Hurlers suffered defeat on Sunday as they battled for a county title against Glenealy in Arklow. Glenealy got off to a good start by scoring 1-3 before Carnew got a score. Carnew then came back with a brilliant goal scored by Daniel Nolan and then got five more points before half time. Pádraig Doran 2 (frees), Keith Farrell 2 and Steven Murphy 1. That left the half time score at 1-7 to 1-5 in favour of Glenealy.

The second half started with a point for Carnew scored by Wayne Kinsella and a point from Glenealy. The whole game then turned on a controversial decision when Wayne Kinsella was dismissed after 10 mins. After that Carnew struggled to stay in touch as Glenealy used the extra man well. Carnew did tag on 3 more scores before the finish, Pádraig Doran 2 (frees) and Conor Lambert 1, but this was not enough to stop a Glenealy victory. The final score was 2-12 to 1-9 in favour of Glenealy.
